Raise the Roof

So, let me first apologize for not posting recently.  The last time I had to go through this cancer ordeal 5 years ago, there were a lot more visits and drama with the chemo and such.  It made for some good writing.  This time, the entire process is just going slower.  Which is fine by me.  The longer we can stretch this bad boy out–the better!  I am now on the schedule to go to the MD every 4 weeks or so.  My blogs are usually posted after an appointment.  But I PROMISE if something crazy happens between – I will post then too.  Who knows–maybe it won’t have anything to do with cancer and just be a funny story…You’ll have to stay tuned in to find out.

I did go to the MD last week for my 4 week check up.  At which time, I got an awesome shot to keep the bones strong, lots of blood removed from my body and a follow-up with Dr. Collichio (who by the way is awesome!).  So, in the past my labs have been running a little under the norm.  Not much under, but none the less under.

Last Tuesday, my labs were back in the norm (albeit the low-end of normal–but none the less normal).  So I asked how that could be happening? Since I am still on chemo and we all know that just kills everything it touches, right?  MD response:  I like to think that the tumors have shrunk in your body and your blood counts are coming back up because they are not being attacked by the cancer and can actually rebound.  My response: I like that story!!  So– if it’s true or not–I’m going with it.

I have felt good lately.  I am on the chemo every other week at this point.  The side effects are pretty minimal.  At one point, I could have entered the “world’s nastiest feet” contest and pretty much won –hands down.  I have been doing a lot of skin care and prevention over the past month and I think at this point– I would be closer to 10th place in the contest.  A nice improvement.  Still pity the man or woman who has me for the pedicure.

So  I guess I will check in again after next visit.  I get scans again in December.  Please continue to pray.  It is a daily struggle and always in the fore front of my mind.  Although, I am so thankful and humbled by this experience.  I know that God has a plan for me.  I pray it is His will to keep me healing and stay around to write blogs for a while.  As my dear friend Marti used to always write at the end of her blogs…have a good day on purpose.  I love that phrase and think of it often.  You are only guaranteed the right now.  Make the most of it–every day!  love to all.

  2. Absolutely wonderful! I am continually praying and thinking of you.

The cutest things was seeing you and Anson dancing the night away at Jason’s party! That to me was a testament to you and how you are fighting for him, too!
